For more than 50 years, the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) has been led by a group of construction professionals committed to elevating the construction industry’s status.

To continue supporting our mission, the AIC Board of Directors plays an essential role in overseeing the direction of our organization. We are currently seeking construction professionals to fill several positions on the Board.

Key Information About AIC Board of Directors Nominations

AIC Directors represent AIC at the highest level and provide strategic leadership and direction for the entire organization. Directors lead efforts in the following areas:

• Committee Chairmanship
• Program Development
• Strategic Alliances
• Fundraising
• Finances
• Governance of the Institute

Directors should be strategic, forward-thinking leaders who have a strong desire to advance AIC into the future.

Individuals eligible for nomination include those within the AIC Professional, Young Professional, Educator, and Fellow Membership classes. We accept self-nominations or nominations of other individuals who you believe would be an ideal fit for the role.

There are many clear benefits of serving as a volunteer leader on the AIC Board. Consider the following advantages of participating:

• Collaborating with other driven professional volunteer leaders.

Key Dates for AIC Board of Directors Nominations

We follow a set timeline each year to provide ample time for individuals to be nominated, reviewed, and approved for the AIC Board. Please carefully review these key dates to recommend yourself or another individual for the Board.

• June 22, 2023: Call for Nominations issued 
• July 22, 2023: Nominations due
• July 31, 2023: Elections open
• August 21, 2023: Elections conclude
• August 31, 2023: Election results released 
• October 1, 2023: Directors installed

Following the conclusion of the nomination period, this year’s approved Board members will begin a three-year term in January 2024 and conclude their service in December 2026.

The approved Board members will be expected to serve the organization in the following ways:

• Meet with the AIC Board of Directors once a year in person at the AIC Annual Conference and Forum.
• Serve on an AIC Committee.
• Attend monthly teleconferences to discuss the latest organizational happenings.

How to Nominate an Individual for the AIC Board of Directors

We are now accepting nominations through July 22. We ask that you submit the following critical information when entering yourself or another individual for consideration on the Board.

• A signed nomination form indicating a willingness to serve if elected.
• A resume and short biography of the individual being nominated.
• A separate document answering three critical questions:
  • Why do you desire to be an AIC Director? 
  • What experiences do you have that would benefit the AIC? 
  • Have you served any other construction industry associations?
