We recognize the importance of other AEC industry organizations that support the advancement of ethics in construction. The collaboration between AIC and each of our industry association partners is the key to growing the industry and providing value to our stakeholders. We appreciate the relationships we have with each of these organizations.
American Council for Construction Education (ACCE)
Since 1974, the American Council for Construction Education has been a leading global advocate of quality construction education that promotes, supports, and accredits quality construction education programs.
The primary goal is the promotion and continued improvement of post-secondary construction education. Specifically, ACCE accredits construction education programs in colleges and universities that request its evaluation and meet its rigorous standards and criteria.
ACCE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the accredited agency for four-year baccalaureate degree programs in construction science, construction management, and construction technology. ACCE is also the accrediting agency for two-year associate-degree programs of the like nature. ACCE is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national association founded in 1950 with 70 chapters representing 22,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with nearly two million employees. ABC’s membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry.
The core purpose of ABC is to advance and defend the principles of the merit shop in the construction industry and to provide members and their employees with an opportunity to succeed.
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 145,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is America’s oldest national engineering society.
ASCE’s vision is to have engineers positioned as global leaders who strive toward building a better quality of life.
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)
The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the leading association for the construction industry. Operating in partnership with its nationwide network of 95 chartered Chapters, AGC provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting the public interest.
A full service national trade association with a nationwide network of exceptional chapters, AGC represents more than 25,000 leading firms in the industry – including general contractors, specialty contractors and service providers and suppliers.
American Subcontractors Association (ASA)
The American Subcontractors Association (ASA) national, membership trade association with over 5,000 subcontractors, specialty trade contractors, suppliers and service providers serving the construction industry. The American Subcontractors Association is recognized as the united voice dedicated to improving the business environment for all segments of the construction industry through advocacy, leadership, education and networking.
As a subcontractor advocate, ASA works at both the Federal and State levels to make the changes necessary to protect subcontractor rights with regard to prompt pay, fair procurement policies, harmful indemnity clauses, retention practices, egregious and abusive contract terms, OSHA rules and economic and tax rules, just to name a few.
Associated Schools of Construction (ASC)
Associated Schools of Construction is the professional association for the development and advancement of construction education, where the sharing of ideas and knowledge inspires, guides and promotes excellence in curricula, teaching, research and service.
The Association offers a variety of programs and services designed to help its members serve their customers more effectively and succeed in an increasingly challenging environment of information management and technology.
Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA)
Founded in 1981, CFMA is the only organization dedicated to bringing together construction financial professionals and those partners serving their unique needs. CFMA serves more than 6600 members via 89 chapters located throughout the US and Canada.
CFMA’s General Members represent all types of contractors – including generals and subs – as well as developers, construction managers, architects, engineers, principals, and material and equipment suppliers. Associate Members include the accounting, insurance, surety, software, legal, and banking specialists who serve the construction industry.
Lean Construction Institute (LCI)
Lean Construction Institute (LCI) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1997. The Institute operates as a catalyst to transform the industry through lean project delivery using an operating system centered on a common language, fundamental principles, and basic practices.
The mission of LCI is to transform design and construction through new approaches to project design and delivery. Lean theory, principles and techniques, taken together, provide the foundation for a different, more collaborative, and more effective form of project management.
Lean design and construction represents a transformational way to design and build capital facilities. The Lean approach generates significant improvements in schedule with dramatically reduced waste, particularly on complex, uncertain and quick projects.
Construction Industry Ethics & Compliance Initiative (CIECI)
The CIECI brings together, in a non-profit, private association, companies within the U.S. construction industry that are committed to the highest level of ethics and conduct and compliance with the law.
This association benefits its members through the frequent sharing of best practices for addressing the ethics and compliance risks embedded in construction industry work, and by presenting an Annual Best Practices Forum at which representatives from government and industry share approaches to current and emerging ethics and compliance issues.
Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS)
The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) is the only marketing organization dedicated to creating business opportunities in the A/E/C industry. SMPS represents a dynamic network of 6,000+ marketing and business development professionals working to secure profitable business relationships for their design and building companies.
