Q2-2025 Recap: Important Organizational Updates for AIC Members

The second quarter of 2025 marked a pivotal period for the American Institute of Constructors (AIC). From strengthening university partnerships to making strategic organizational changes, our community demonstrated remarkable resilience and forward-thinking leadership.

Be sure to read through our comprehensive recap that highlights the key milestones, achievements, and transformative decisions that shaped our organization during this dynamic quarter.

What We Accomplished During the Spring 2025 Season

As we share our accomplishments, our focus remains on staying ahead of industry changes to uphold our mission of accelerating constructor excellence. Learn how this quarter’s initiatives set us up for sustainable growth and greater member value.

1. Welcoming LSU as a Legacy Sponsor

One of the most significant developments in Q2 was officially welcoming Louisiana State University (LSU) and the LSU Online Construction Management program as a Legacy Sponsor. This partnership is the latest extension of our shared commitment to elevating construction education and professional development.

AIC and LSU have maintained a strong partnership for years. The Bert S. Turner Department of Construction Management at LSU has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to supporting Construction Management students through key initiatives:

The elevation to Legacy Sponsor status reflects the school’s commitment to our shared values and their integral role in shaping the next generation of construction professionals. This partnership serves as a model for how academic institutions and professional organizations can collaborate effectively to advance industry standards.

2. Spring 2025 CAC Exam Results: Strong Performance Across the Board

The Spring 2025 CAC exam window delivered impressive results that underscore the strength of our certification program.

  • We successfully tested 837 candidates across multiple testing sites.
  • Students achieved an overall pass rate of approximately 70%.

Our certification program shows positive trends. Universities are effectively integrating our exam into their degree programs, and candidates are demonstrating strong aptitude for core testing areas. The pass rate confirms the exam is rigorous yet achievable for well-prepared individuals.

We will continue to analyze the test results to identify strategies that may work well for our partner universities and individual candidates. We will soon share insights about preparation methods and program elements that can contribute to higher success rates, helping educators and students optimize their approach to certification.

3. Educator/Industry Summit: Bridging Academics and Industry

In early June, we brought together educators and industry professionals for a comprehensive Educator/Industry Summit. This gathering represented a crucial investment in the collaborative relationships that make our certification programs relevant and effective.

The goal of this meeting was to provide deeper insight into our efforts to enhance the delivery of our exams. We also addressed questions from educators about how to best prepare their students to take the exam.

The insights we gained from the discussions will help us stay aligned with the latest needs of Construction Management students and programs across the country. Additionally, we were able to share updates on the exam itself – such as item development processes – and identify areas where further input or collaboration would be valuable.

We are committed to continuing these informational sessions, engaging both educators and industry professionals to help each school prepare their students for success.

4. News From AIC Leadership: Strategic Restructuring for Long-Term Success

One of the most significant developments in Q2-2025 resulted from strategic decisions made by AIC leadership to ensure our organization’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness. The following bold change will position AIC for enhanced service to members, while maintaining our commitment to excellence.

A Unified AIC and CCC: Stronger Together

A significant change involves the operational integration of AIC and the Constructor Certification Commission (CCC). While CCC remains an independent body, it now operates as one unified organization with AIC, eliminating previous inefficiencies and aligning our financial and marketing strategies.

This integration represents a significant improvement in organizational effectiveness. By combining our resources and efforts, we’ve eliminated redundancies that previously limited our ability to serve members optimally. The unified approach allows for more strategic resource allocation and clearer communication with our constituency.

The CCC continues to maintain its independence in certification decisions and standards, ensuring the integrity of our credentialing process. However, the operational support provided by AIC’s focused efforts through the Exam Committee creates a more efficient and effective system for all stakeholders.

5. Announcing Our Latest Committee Members

During the spring, we put out a call to AIC members in good standing with the organization to fill our Committee roles. These positions are incredibly valuable for providing guidance, oversight, and leadership.

We are proud to announce the updated list of Committee members filling key slots in our organization:

  • Executive Committee: Gregg Bradshaw
  • Certification Commission: Rick Lawrence
  • Marketing: Terri Hoffman
  • Ethics: Hugh Cronin
  • Financial: Murray Papendorf
  • University Relations: Geno Hogan
  • Industry Relations: Open for recruiting

Thank you to each AIC member who stepped up to support decision-making and help shape the future of our organization.
